Create a New Project

Projects can be created directly in your personal area or under a group. For larger projects, it is always recommended to use the “Create a New Group” approach, as this also provides additional features such as Epics and roadmaps. This also makes it easier to transfer the project to another person, for example, if someone leaves the project.

Note: After the pilot phase of GIT.NRW, it is planned to be able to create projects for project management directly using the option “Create from Template”. Until then, the work-around via “Import Project” must be used.

  1. To “(4) New Project”: Click on “New Project” in the top-right corner of the homepage, and then select “Import Project”.

  1. Import project from a “GitLab Export”.

    The screenshot shows the left-aligned button “GitLab Export”, which must be clicked to import a project template.

  2. Import the project template “202y-mm-dd_projektvorlage.tar.gz”, assign a project name, and optionally adjust the project URL.

This points to the “Browse” button on the left side to include the project template.
